Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded the season’s lowest minimum temperature on Friday, with the mercury dipping to a chilling minus 6.2°C. This marked a significant drop in temperatures across the region, as the city experienced a harsh winter night.

Mumbai experienced its coldest November day in eight years on Friday, with the Santacruz observatory recording a minimum temperature of 16.5 degrees Celsius. This marks the lowest temperature for the month of November since 2016, when the same station recorded 16.3°C on November 11.

Delhi experienced a sharp drop in temperature on Thursday, with the minimum reaching a season-low of 10.2°C, as cold northwesterly winds swept across the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the mercury fell by over a degree from the previous day’s low of 11.2°C, marking a drop of 2°C below the normal temperature for this time of year.

Delhi’s air quality remained in the “very poor” category for the fifth straight day on Thursday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) continuing to stay over 350. Calm winds have continued to hinder the dispersion of pollutants, keeping the capital’s air quality at dangerous levels. The city has recorded a rise in the AQI since November 3, when it peaked at 382, marking the highest level of the season so far.

The chill deepens in Delhi as the city's minimum temperature plummets to 5.5 degrees Celsius, marking a drop of three notches below the season's average, as reported by the India Meteorological Department. Simultaneously, the city experiences a high of 24.7 degrees Celsius, surpassing the seasonal norm by two degrees, according to the IMD.
