Curfew was completely lifted from the remaining parts of Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Sunday, six days after violent clashes erupted in the city, officials said.

Nagpur police have registered an FIR against office-bearers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal for allegedly hurting religious sentiments during a protest demanding the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The violence erupted in central Nagpur’s Chitnis Park in Mahal area on Monday evening, leading to heightened security measures across the city.
