In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has made its first arrest in the Reasi terror attack case. The arrested individual, Hakim Din from Rajouri, is believed to have provided logistical support to the terrorists involved in the attack.
Reasi Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma confirmed the arrest, stating that while Din may not be the mastermind behind the attack, he played a crucial role in facilitating it.
The terror attack occurred on June 9 when a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori cave shrine to Katra in Reasi district was ambushed by terrorists in Teryath village, Pouni area. The brutal attack resulted in the tragic loss of nine lives, with 33 others sustaining injuries.
Following the incident, on June 17, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) transferred the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This decision came during a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who urged security forces and intelligence agencies to replicate their successes against terrorism in the Kashmir valley in the Jammu region.
The arrest of Hakim Din marks a crucial step forward in the investigation into this heinous terrorist act. Authorities continue to work diligently to uncover all aspects of the attack and bring those responsible to justice.
