Former Maharashtra MLA and BJP leader RT Deshmukh tragically lost his life in a road accident on Monday afternoon near Belkund village in Latur district, officials confirmed.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:15 pm on a flyover along the Tuljapur-Latur road. Deshmukh was travelling in an SUV when the vehicle jumped over the crash barrier and rolled down twice on the flyover’s initial stretch.
Local residents and four policemen from a nearby outpost quickly rushed to the scene to rescue Deshmukh and the car’s driver from the severely damaged vehicle. Both were immediately taken to a private hospital, where Deshmukh, who was seated on the left side of the car, succumbed to his injuries. The driver is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
RT Deshmukh served as the BJP MLA representing Majalgaon in Beed district from 2014 to 2019. His untimely death has shocked the political community and residents of the region. Further investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.
