BJP Claims Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik's Absence from G20 Dinner Due to "Inferiority Complex"

Odisha’s Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, has come under scrutiny as the opposition BJP suggests that his decision to skip the G20 dinner, hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, was motivated by an “inferiority complex.” While the state government has not provided an official reason for Patnaik’s absence at the prestigious event, his non-participation has stirred debates and political discussions.

Veteran BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Jaynarayan Mishra, expressed his viewpoint on Patnaik’s absence, stating, “The CM’s move has raised many questions. Patnaik appeared to have been guided by an inferiority complex.” Mishra’s comments come a day after the G20 dinner, where Patnaik was noticeably absent.

During the Presidential elections, Naveen Patnaik had referred to President Droupadi Murmu as “sister,” and it was in this context that he was invited to the G20 dinner. However, his decision to decline the invitation has led to speculations about the underlying reasons. Jaynarayan Mishra further commented, “The CM must know the reason. But it appears that some form of inferiority complex might have pulled him back. He might have thought about what he would do there in the midst of great personalities.”

Despite these claims, Mishra also asserted that Naveen Patnaik’s absence was ultimately in the best interest of Odisha. He argued, “At least, the state’s prestige has been saved. He (Patnaik) has brought Odisha to such a level that it has now been known for poverty and crimes against women and all such things. Had he been there and someone had asked him about the per-capita income what he would have said?”

While the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have not officially responded to Mishra’s allegations, BJD MP Amar Patnaik took to social media platform X to highlight a different aspect of the G20 meeting. He emphasized the pride associated with the replica of the world-famous Konark wheel being present at the G20 meeting venue, with the Prime Minister welcoming guests against the backdrop of this iconic symbol.

As discussions continue over Naveen Patnaik’s non-attendance at the G20 dinner, the political discourse in Odisha takes center stage, with different perspectives emerging on the significance and implications of his decision.
