Latest news"Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder: Accused Sanjoy Roy's Mother-in-Law Reveals Disturbing Details and Demands Severe Punishment"

In the ongoing investigation into the horrific rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, shocking new revelations have emerged. The mother-in-law of the accused, Sanjoy Roy, has provided disturbing details about his past behavior, intensifying the outrage surrounding the case.

According to the mother-in-law, Sanjoy Roy had a history of domestic violence. She claimed that he had physically abused his previous wife, resulting in a miscarriage when she was three months pregnant. “My relations with him were very tense,” she told ANI. “Initially, everything was good for six months. When she was three months pregnant, he caused a miscarriage. He thrashed her, and a police complaint was registered for the same. Following this, my daughter continued being ill; I bore all her expenses for medicines.”

The mother-in-law expressed a strong desire for Roy to face the death penalty. “Sanjoy was not good. Hang him or do whatever you want with him,” she declared. Additionally, she suggested that Sanjoy Roy might not have acted alone in the rape and murder of the 31-year-old trainee doctor, indicating potential involvement of others in the crime.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is rigorously interrogating Sanjoy Roy to determine if he had any accomplices in the crime. The agency has also been reviewing the initial investigation conducted by Kolkata Police. On August 18, the CBI team performed 3D laser mapping in the emergency ward of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital as part of their ongoing probe.

In a bid to accelerate the investigation, a local court has granted the CBI permission to administer a polygraph test on Roy. The test is yet to be scheduled, pending the accused’s consent before a magistrate.

The brutal crime has triggered widespread protests across various cities, with demands for swift justice and harsh punishment for the accused. The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the case, with Chief Justice DY Chandrachud scheduled to hear it on Tuesday.

The West Bengal government has also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital from January 2021 to the present. The SIT has been granted access to all relevant documents and is required to submit its first report within a month.
