In a notable recognition of digital influence, Elon Musk, CEO of social media platform X, congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the most followed world leader on the platform.
On Friday, Musk took to X to extend his congratulations: “Congratulations PM @NarendraModi on being the most followed world leader!” This accolade comes after Modi’s follower count on X reached a landmark 100 million last week.
Modi’s substantial following on X places him as the second most-followed politician globally, trailing only former US President Barack Obama, who boasts over 131 million followers. Modi surpasses other prominent figures such as former US President Donald Trump, who holds the third spot with over 87 million followers, and current US President Joe Biden, who is fourth with more than 38 million followers.
The rankings for the most followed people on X are led by Elon Musk himself, who commands the top position with over 190 million followers. Following Musk and Obama, Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo holds the third spot with over 112 million followers. Canadian singer Justin Bieber and Barbadian artist Rihanna complete the top five most followed accounts on the platform.
