Karnataka Home Minister Responds to Prajwal Revanna's Video, Says SIT Will Decide on Arrest in Sex Scandal

Karnataka’s political landscape has been abuzz with the unfolding saga surrounding JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna and the sex scandal allegations against him. The state’s Home Minister, Dr G Parameshwara, recently addressed the media regarding the potential arrest of Prajwal Revanna upon his return to India, following a video release hinting at his appearance before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31.

Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara clarified that the decision to arrest Prajwal Revanna would be made by the SIT upon his arrival at an Indian airport. Responding to queries about a possible delay in the arrest, the minister asserted that due process must be followed, including coordination with the central government, issuance of warrants, and communication through the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Home Minister detailed the steps taken, including the issuance of a Blue Corner notice and communication with Interpol to ascertain Prajwal Revanna’s location if he fails to appear. He emphasized that no one is above the law and noted the expiration of documents by May 31, which could impact Prajwal Revanna’s immunity and passport status.

Dr G Parameshwara addressed Prajwal Revanna’s claims of a political conspiracy against him and mentioned statements made by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and others that allegedly led Prajwal Revanna to isolate himself. The minister stated that the SIT would investigate these allegations as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.

Regarding reports of Prajwal Revanna’s depression and potential surrender, the Home Minister indicated that the focus remains on factual investigation and legal procedures. He reiterated the importance of Prajwal Revanna’s scheduled appearance before the SIT on May 31 for initiating further legal actions.
