Rajasthan Minister Kirodi Lal Meena Alleges Phone Tapping, CID Surveillance

Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena has once again alleged that his phone is being tapped and that he is under surveillance by the state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Speaking at an event in Sanchore on Sunday, Meena reiterated his claim, despite the Rajasthan government previously denying any such action.

“I am still saying my phone is being tapped, and the CID is following me,” he asserted.

BJP Notice and Government Denial

Meena revealed that he had received a notice from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over his allegations. Responding to the notice, he explained that during the previous government, officers monitored his movements and tapped his phone, a practice he claims continues.

The Rajasthan government, however, has refuted these allegations. Minister of State (MoS) for Home, Jawahar Singh Bedham, recently denied any phone tapping in the state assembly. BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj also stated that no elected representative’s phone, including Meena’s, was being monitored.

Despite these clarifications, Meena insisted that the same officers who allegedly surveilled him in the past remain in their positions. “Those who used to tap my phone and follow me are still there. I never paid attention to it before, but now it should stop,” he said.

Allegations of Corruption and Scams

Meena also took aim at the previous Congress-led government, alleging large-scale corruption in the Jal Jeevan Mission. “A huge scam took place in Jal Jeevan Mission. Work was given without any tender. I raised the issue, and as a result, some engineers and officers were suspended or arrested, and a contractor was also arrested,” he claimed.

Previous Allegations of Spying

This is not the first time Meena has raised concerns over surveillance. Earlier this month, he had accused the government of spying on him, claiming that he was being followed by the CID.

“I got 50 fake station house officers (SHOs) arrested. I raised concerns over the 2021 sub-inspector recruitment exam paper leak, but the government ignored it. Instead, this BJP government acted like the previous Congress government,” Meena had said at an event at the Amagarh temple near Jaipur.
