Four Indians have tragically lost their lives in a devastating multi-vehicle accident in Texas. The victims, who were carpooling, were traveling from Dallas to Bentonville, Arkansas, when a speeding truck rear-ended their SUV, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. All four occupants of the SUV perished in the blaze.
The deceased have been identified as Aryan Raghunath Orampati, Farooq Shaik, Lokesh Palacharla, and Dharshini Vasudevan. They had connected through a carpooling app, which has been instrumental in helping authorities determine their identities. The victims were on a journey to visit family or friends when the fatal crash occurred.
Aryan Orampati and Farooq Shaik were returning from a visit to Orampati’s cousin in Dallas. Lokesh Palacharla was en route to meet his wife in Bentonville, while Dharshini Vasudevan, who had recently completed her Master’s degree from the University of Texas, was heading to visit her uncle in Bentonville.
Vasudevan’s father had reached out to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Twitter, seeking help in locating his daughter. In his post, he detailed that Dharshini had been actively in touch until late afternoon, after which all contact was lost.
Orampati’s family, based in Hyderabad, was devastated by the news. His father, Subhash Chandra Reddy, runs Max Agri Genetics Private Limited in Hyderabad. Despite having attended Aryan’s convocation in the US earlier this year, the family had hoped he would return to India after completing his work stint.
Farooq Shaik’s father, Masthan Vali, who lives in BHEL Hyderabad, revealed that his son had moved to the US three years ago for his Master’s degree and had recently completed it. Shaik had settled in Bentonville.
Authorities are relying on DNA fingerprinting and analysis of teeth and bone remains to confirm the identities of the victims. The tragic accident highlights the dangers of high-speed driving and the importance of road safety measures.
