Zeeshan Siddique, son of slain NCP leader Baba Siddique, received a threatening message that prompted swift action from the Mumbai Police. A 21-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Tayyab, was arrested from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, after his office in Bandra received threats against both Siddique and Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Friday evening.
The police have taken Tayyab into custody and transferred him to the Nirmal Nagar Police for questioning to determine his motives behind the threatening message. This arrest comes on the heels of a separate incident where a 24-year-old vegetable seller from Jamshedpur, Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, was arrested for sending a similar threat message demanding ₹5 crore from Salman Khan through the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline.
Authorities managed to trace the threatening messages back to Jharkhand, leading to an extensive investigation involving multiple police teams. During this process, the Mumbai traffic police also received an “apology” from the same phone number linked to the earlier threat.
The threats come in the wake of a turbulent period for the Siddique family. Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead by three assailants on October 12, near his son’s office in Nirmal Nagar. In connection with the murder, police have arrested nine individuals, including Gurmail Baljit Singh, Dharmaraj Kashyap, and others, with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang claiming responsibility for the killing.
