In a significant political move, Bihar-based YouTuber Manish Kashyap, known for his massive online following of over 80 lakh subscribers, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after being arrested last year for allegedly spreading fake videos. Kashyap’s entry into the BJP fold comes amidst the upcoming Delhi elections and his vocal support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kashyap, who had faced legal troubles over circulating fabricated videos depicting migrants from Bihar facing harassment in Tamil Nadu, made his BJP affiliation public during an event in the presence of BJP leaders Anil Baluni, Sanjay Mayukh, and North East Delhi candidate Manoj Tiwari. Expressing gratitude towards his mother’s support during his legal ordeal, Kashyap cited his admiration for PM Modi as a driving force behind joining the party.
“I have joined the BJP to work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Kashyap stated, highlighting his alignment with the BJP’s political ideology. Tiwari, seeking re-election from North East Delhi, praised Kashyap’s efforts and alleged that his legal troubles were orchestrated to suppress his voice, especially his support for PM Modi.
Acknowledging Kashyap’s significant online presence and political ambitions, Tiwari assured him of respect and opportunities within the BJP. Kashyap’s association with PM Modi and his critical stance against opposition figures, particularly targeting RJD leader Tejashvi Yadav, has been a notable aspect of his online persona.
The upcoming elections in Delhi, with Kashyap’s backing of BJP’s Tiwari, add a new dimension to the political landscape, especially as the Congress fields Kanhaiya Kumar against Tiwari in North East Delhi. Both Kumar and Kashyap hail from the Bhumihar community, hinting at potential campaigning dynamics ahead of the elections.
