YouTuber Arrested for Fabricating Stay at Bengaluru Airport

A 23-year-old YouTuber from Bengaluru, Vikas Gowda, found himself in legal trouble after falsely claiming to have spent an entire day at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. His arrest follows allegations of entering the airport premises under false pretenses and creating misleading content for his YouTube channel.

Vikas Gowda, a resident of Yelahanka in Bengaluru, entered the airport with a ticket for a Chennai-bound Air India flight on April 7 but deliberately chose not to board the plane. Instead, he roamed around the airport premises recording a video, which he later uploaded to his YouTube channel, claiming to have spent an entire day at the airport and exploring various areas without proper authorization.

The alleged video, uploaded on April 12, garnered attention as Gowda falsely portrayed his activities at the airport, including venturing into restricted areas. However, he later deleted the video from his channel.

Airport security personnel discovered the fabrication on April 15 and filed a complaint, leading to a case registered against Gowda under Sections 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) and 448 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code. He was subsequently arrested but later released on bail.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Gowda’s actions were motivated by a desire for publicity, and his claims in the video were deemed exaggerations. The incident highlights the consequences of spreading misleading information and the importance of ethical content creation.

The arrest of Vikas Gowda serves as a reminder of the legal ramifications of creating deceptive content, especially when it involves security-sensitive locations like airports. It underscores the need for responsible behavior and accurate portrayal in online platforms to avoid misleading the public.
