A tumultuous event unfolded in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, as a woman’s extramarital affair came to light, leading to a series of dramatic suicide attempts that culminated in her climbing an electric pole. The incident, captured in a viral video, showcases the intensity of emotions and consequences surrounding the revelation of her affair.
According to reports, the 34-year-old woman, a mother of three, was involved in a seven-year-long extramarital relationship with a man from a neighboring village. When her husband, Ram Govind, discovered the affair, a tumultuous chain of events followed. Initially, the woman attempted suicide by standing on a railway track and later by jumping from the fifth floor of a building. Failing in these attempts, she resorted to climbing the electric pole in Gorakhpur, presumably with the intent to end her life.
In a desperate plea following the exposure of her affair, the woman demanded that her lover should live in the same house as her husband and contribute to household finances. However, when her husband refused this proposal and left the house, she made multiple suicide attempts.
The video capturing the woman perched on the electric pole while being surrounded by onlookers has circulated widely on the internet, showcasing the gravity of the situation. It depicts moments of tension as efforts were made to convince her to descend from the pole.
During the woman’s ascent up the electric pole, electricity supply in Gorakhpur’s Pipraich was reportedly cut off as a safety measure. The incident occurred near a transformer near ITI College in Gorakhpur and was recorded on Wednesday morning, as reported by Free Press Journal.
