Bengaluru Woman Harassed by Auto Driver for Cancelling Ride; Incident Caught on Camera

In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, a woman was harassed and allegedly slapped by an Ola auto driver after she cancelled her ride booked through the ride-hailing app. The altercation was caught on video and has since gone viral on social media, sparking outrage.

The video shows the heated exchange between the woman and the auto driver. During the argument, the driver aggressively tries to snatch her phone while making offensive remarks. When the woman questioned why he was shouting, he retorted, “Tera baap deta hain kya gas ke paise? (Does your father pay me for the gas?)”. The woman then stated she would file a police complaint, to which the driver brazenly replied that she could do whatever she wished. The video ends with the driver leaving after failing to coerce the woman into his auto.

According to the woman’s account shared on social media platform X, she and her friend had booked two autos through the Ola app due to peak-hour traffic. When the auto she had booked arrived first, her friend cancelled her ride. The driver of the cancelled auto then followed them, hurling abuse and threatening them despite the situation being explained.

The woman further alleged that the driver verbally assaulted them, questioned whether the auto belonged to her father, and made derogatory comments. When she started recording the incident, the driver’s aggression intensified. She claimed he slapped her and tried to snatch her phone. The driver allegedly went on to threaten her, saying he would beat her with his slippers.

Ola responded to the woman’s post on social media, calling the incident “quite alarming” and promising an investigation. The Additional Director General of Police, Traffic and Road Safety, Alok Kumar, also responded, stating that the behaviour was “unacceptable” and informed that appropriate action would be taken against the driver.
