The event unfolded around 7:30 PM in Ber Sarai, a bustling area in South Delhi, as the officers were conducting routine vehicle checks near the market.

The officers, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Pramod and Head Constable Shailesh Chauhan, attempted to stop a Maruti Suzuki Fronx after it failed to comply with a traffic signal. Instead of halting, the driver accelerated, knocking the officers off their feet and forcing them to hang on for dear life as the car sped away. Shocking visuals captured the harrowing scene, showing the officers desperately asking the driver to stop as the vehicle swerved and made a U-turn while they clung to the bonnet.

The terrifying ride lasted for approximately 20 meters before the driver finally brought the car to a halt. Both officers were subsequently taken to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Following their statements, the police have registered a case against the driver under several sections, including attempted murder and obstruction of a public servant in the line of duty. Additional charges from the Motor Vehicles Act are expected as the investigation continues. The car is registered to Jai Bhagwan, a resident of Vasant Kunj.

Authorities have condemned the incident, highlighting the dangers posed by reckless driving and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. Further inquiries are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify any additional charges against the driver.
