A 37-year-old tech professional from Bengaluru, Vipin Gupta, who had been reported missing, has revealed that domestic issues with his wife were the primary reason for his disappearance. Gupta was located by the police in a mall in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, over ten days after he was last seen on August 4.

The case began when Gupta’s wife filed a missing person report at the Kodigehalli Police Station in Bengaluru. Despite extensive efforts by authorities, including reviewing CCTV footage from various locations, Gupta remained elusive until he activated a new SIM card in Noida. This action allowed the police to trace his location.

According to reports from The Times of India, Gupta was found by officers at a mall in Noida after he used the new SIM card in his old phone. When approached by the police, Gupta reportedly smiled and expressed a reluctance to return to Bengaluru. “You put me in prison, I will live there…but I won’t return,” he told the officers, as cited in the report.

After a few hours of persuasion, Gupta agreed to return to Bengaluru to address the missing person report. Upon his return, he gave a statement to the police and was later allowed to go home. During questioning, Gupta disclosed that his disappearance was driven by severe domestic issues with his wife. He described her behavior as “controlling” and noted that he faced harsh criticism over minor issues and restrictions on his personal freedom.

Gupta revealed that he had been subjected to constant scrutiny and was expected to conform to strict rules regarding his behavior and appearance. He also mentioned that he had shaved his head and altered his appearance to avoid detection after his wife publicized his disappearance online with pictures and videos.

Since August 4, Gupta traveled to various locations including Tirupati, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, and ultimately Noida. His case has brought attention to the challenges and pressures faced by individuals in troubled domestic situations.
