Six Injured After Fire Breaks Out in Delhi’s Connaught Place Restaurant

At least six people were injured on Thursday morning after a fire broke out at a restaurant in New Delhi’s Connaught Place, police said.

According to Atul Garg, Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief, the incident was reported at 11:55 am from Bikkgane Biryani restaurant in P Block of Connaught Place. A leakage from an LPG cylinder is suspected to have triggered the fire.

Six fire tenders were dispatched to the spot to douse the flames. “A total of six fire tenders were rushed after an LPG cylinder leakage was reported. Six persons sustained burn injuries due to the fire,” Garg stated.

The injured individuals, identified as Deepak (39), Piyush (31), Mahindra (25), Alam (21), Sairuddin (28), and Janak (26), were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital for treatment. Officials reported that Deepak and Piyush sustained 70% burn injuries, while Mahindra suffered the most severe burns at 81%. The other three victims sustained injuries below 30%.
