A Shiv Sena (UBT) leader finds himself embroiled in legal trouble following allegations of delivering speeches, hurling abuses, and issuing threats against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in a video circulated on social media. The complaint, lodged by Kunal Sarmadkar, the youth wing leader of Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), led to the police registering a case against the accused, identified as Koli, a resident of Solapur.
According to Sarmadkar’s statement to the police, on November 11, he came across a YouTube video attributed to Koli, containing derogatory remarks and threats directed at Shinde. The speech reportedly included abusive language against Shinde following the tearing of posters depicting Uddhav Thackrey in Thane. Additionally, the video mentioned threats directed at Shinde and Shiv Sainiks involved in tearing the welcoming posters of Thackrey.
In his police complaint, Sarmadkar highlighted Koli’s alleged history of violence, citing previous rioting cases against him, intensifying concerns about the severity of the threats issued in the video.
Confirming the FIR, a police official from the Nirmal Nagar police station stated, “Based on the complaint of Sarmadkar, we have registered an FIR against Koli and are investigating the case further.”
The accused Shiv Sena leader has been booked under sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, reflecting the gravity of the alleged verbal abuse and threats made against the Maharashtra Chief Minister.
The legal action against the accused leader signifies the seriousness with which such incidents, especially those involving threats and abuse directed at public figures, are being addressed by the authorities.
