A high-level security alert was issued in Rajasthan on Thursday following an alarming email threatening the lives of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and senior IAS officer Neeraj K Pawan. The email, sent from an account under the name Divij Prabhakara, contained explicit threats to kill and dismember both officials and warned of explosives being planted in cricket stadiums to garner public attention to alleged personal grievances.
The threatening email was sent to multiple recipients, including an official ID linked to the Chief Minister’s Office as well as a private individual. Alongside the threats, the email alleged wrongdoing involving rape and dowry harassment against certain individuals, providing detailed personal information about them.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Kunwar Rashtradeep confirmed that cybercrime experts and intelligence teams have been assigned to trace the origin of the email and evaluate the credibility of the threats. Security arrangements have been heightened at government buildings and cricket stadiums in Jaipur as a precaution.
The sender also claimed to have obtained a medical certificate to plead mental instability if apprehended, a claim that authorities are currently investigating. Police emphasized that the allegations made in the email remain unverified and are being treated both as a serious threat and a potential hoax.
The email contained sensitive personal data, including Aadhaar-linked hotel check-ins and phone numbers of the accused individuals, whose identities are under verification by officials. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and further updates are awaited following forensic analysis and digital tracking efforts.
The heightened security measures aim to ensure the safety of the Chief Minister, the IAS officer, and public venues amid ongoing investigations.
