Mumbai experienced light rainfall on Saturday morning, providing much-needed relief from the recent humid weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy skies with intermittent showers throughout the day, continuing the pre-monsoon activity in the region.
According to the IMD, several parts of Mumbai received light to moderate rainfall, including Dadar, Mahim, Byculla, Bombay Central, Powai, Bandra, and other areas, as confirmed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. A civic official stated that pre-monsoon showers started in some parts of the island city before spreading to the suburbs.
The weather department also issued a broader national forecast, highlighting ongoing rainfall and thunderstorm activity expected across multiple regions over the next five days.
IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava informed ANI that several southern states—including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka—will continue to experience persistent rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Similar weather patterns are expected across Central India, while the Northeast is also forecast to receive continued rainfall.
Srivastava added that thunderstorm activity is likely in parts of Northwestern India, where heatwave conditions have been reported simultaneously. Eastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh will remain hot and humid.
The national capital Delhi may see brief relief from the heat, with thunderstorms and light rainfall expected this evening and tomorrow. Temperatures in Delhi might drop to around 37 to 39 degrees Celsius due to the rain.
With pre-monsoon showers picking up pace, residents across various parts of India can expect changing weather conditions in the coming days.
