Prashant Kishor Unveils Jan Suraaj Party, Calls for Bihar's Voice to Reach Delhi

Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor officially launched his political party, the Jan Suraaj Party, in Patna on Wednesday. The event was attended by various eminent personalities and marked a significant step in Kishor’s journey from strategist to politician.

In his address, Kishor urged the audience to raise their voices for Bihar, emphasizing the need for a unified front against the discrimination faced by Biharis across India. “You all need to say ‘Jai Bihar’ so loud that no one calls you and your children ‘Bihari’ and it feels like abuse. Your voice must reach Delhi, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Bombay, wherever Bihari children were abused and beaten,” he stated. This statement comes in light of recent incidents where youths from Bihar faced harassment in West Bengal.

The Jan Suraaj initiative began as a grassroots campaign where Kishor engaged with thousands of people in Bihar to understand their issues and concerns. He highlighted that the objective of the campaign was to eradicate the political helplessness that has plagued the state over the past 25-30 years, during which the electorate often voted for the BJP out of fear of Lalu Prasad Yadav due to the lack of viable alternatives.

Kishor has been vocal about his criticism of the current political scenario in Bihar, particularly targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He asserted that Kumar is neither mentally nor physically fit to lead the state, comparing Kumar’s leadership to that of Lalu Yadav’s past tenure, which he referred to as a “jungle raj.” He warned that the BJP, which currently backs Kumar, could face a similar backlash as the Congress did in the past for supporting Yadav.

“The Congress helped Lalu Prasad run a ‘jungle raj’ for 15 years. The people of Bihar completely uprooted the Congress. The BJP will suffer the same fate,” Kishor cautioned. He expressed concern that a significant portion of the populace is questioning Kumar’s capacity to provide effective leadership.

The launch of the Jan Suraaj Party marks a pivotal moment in Bihar’s political landscape, as Kishor aims to create a new political alternative that unites the people of Bihar in their quest for better governance and representation.
