Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Sufi music festival Jahan-e-Khusrau at Sunder Nursery in Delhi on February 28, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed. The three-day festival, curated by renowned filmmaker and artist Muzaffar Ali, will take place from February 28 to March 2.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the event. He wrote, “I will be attending Jahan-e-Khusrau at 7:30 PM tomorrow, 28th February, at Sunder Nursery in Delhi. This is the 25th edition of the festival, which has been a commendable effort to popularise Sufi music and culture. I look forward to witnessing Nazr-e-Krishna during tomorrow’s programme.”
25 Years of Jahan-e-Khusrau
Jahan-e-Khusrau, an international festival of Sufi music, poetry, and dance, was founded in 2001 by Muzaffar Ali and is organized by the Rumi Foundation. The festival celebrates the rich legacy of Amir Khusrau, a 13th-century Sufi poet and scholar, by bringing together artists from across the world.
The PMO’s statement highlighted Modi’s commitment to promoting India’s diverse cultural and artistic heritage. “The Prime Minister has been a strong proponent of promoting the diverse art and culture of the country. In line with this, he will participate in Jahan-e-Khusrau, which is an international festival dedicated to Sufi music, poetry, and dance,” the statement read.
TEH Bazaar – Showcasing Indian Handicrafts
Apart from the musical performances, PM Modi will also visit TEH Bazaar (The Exploration of the Handmade) at the venue. The exhibition will showcase One District-One Product crafts, exquisite handicrafts, and handlooms from across India. Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch short films on traditional arts and crafts, the PMO added.
As Jahan-e-Khusrau marks its 25th anniversary, it continues to be a significant cultural platform celebrating the timeless traditions of Sufi music and mysticism, with Prime Minister Modi’s presence adding to the event’s prominence.
