
Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his two-day visit to Assam with a memorable safari experience at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on Saturday morning. Immersed in the natural splendor of one of India’s most renowned wildlife sanctuaries, PM Modi embarked on both elephant and jeep safaris, marveling at the diverse fauna and lush landscapes.
Accompanied by park director Sonali Ghosh and senior forest officials, PM Modi fed sugar cane to elephants during his safari, further enhancing his interaction with the region’s rich biodiversity. Sharing his admiration for Kaziranga’s unparalleled beauty, PM Modi expressed appreciation for the park’s significant conservation efforts, particularly in safeguarding the iconic Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros.
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as a testament to India’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage. Renowned for its dense forests, towering elephant grass, and marshy wetlands, Kaziranga serves as a critical habitat for a multitude of species, including elephants, tigers, and various bird species.
PM Modi’s itinerary for the day is packed with significant engagements aimed at bolstering regional development across multiple states. In Itanagar, he will participate in the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit North East’ program, dedicating the strategically important Sela Tunnel to the nation and launching the UNNATI scheme, set to inject ₹10,000 crore into the region’s development.
Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for various development projects in Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh. Later in the day, he will inaugurate the 125-ft high ‘Statue of Valour’ of legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan in Jorhat and participate in a public program, inaugurating projects worth over ₹17,500 crore in Assam.
Continuing his whirlwind tour, PM Modi will proceed to Siliguri, West Bengal, where he will inaugurate projects valued at approximately ₹4,500 crore. The day will culminate with a visit to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where PM Modi will perform Darshan and Pooja at Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
On Sunday, PM Modi’s engagements will extend to laying the foundation stone for various development projects exceeding ₹42,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, followed by the disbursement of the first installment under the Mahatari Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh through video conferencing.
PM Modi’s comprehensive itinerary reflects the government’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development and fostering inclusive growth across diverse regions, as he continues to champion the vision of a prosperous and resilient India.
