PM Modi Stresses India's Youth as Key to Achieving Developed Nation Status

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, marking National Youth Day in honor of Swami Vivekananda’s 163rd birth anniversary. The event, which gathered 3,000 Indian youth between the ages of 15 and 29, focused on the vital role of young people in shaping the country’s future over the next 25 years.

In his speech, PM Modi highlighted the importance of India’s youth in realizing the nation’s dream of becoming a developed country. He expressed his belief that this goal is not only achievable but also inevitable with the strength, innovation, and dedication of young Indians.

“Today, the whole nation is remembering and saluting Swami Vivekananda Ji, who had immense faith in the youth of India,” Modi said. “He believed in their potential to solve every problem. Like Vivekananda Ji, I too believe in the power of our youth to bring about transformative change.”

Drawing a parallel to the G-20 Summit held in Bharat Mandapam in September 2024, Modi stressed that India’s youth are now actively contributing to shaping the roadmap for the next 25 years, positioning the nation for sustainable development and global leadership. “In the very place where global leaders discussed the future of the world, the youth of India are now setting the course for the future of the nation. It is my great fortune to be here with you,” he remarked.

The Prime Minister also recounted a touching moment with young athletes during a meeting at his residence in September 2024, where one athlete affectionately referred to him as “PM means param mitra (best friend).” This moment further solidified Modi’s conviction in the potential of India’s young generation.

“Some may think that becoming a developed nation is an impossible goal, but I firmly believe that with the strength of India’s youth, it is entirely achievable,” Modi said. “If the vision of Viksit Bharat guides every decision, step, and policy, no power can stop us from becoming a developed India. A developed India will be empowered economically, strategically, socially, and culturally.”

During the event, Modi observed presentations from youth leaders on key topics such as women empowerment, sports, culture, startups, and infrastructure. He also released a book titled Yuva Shakti’s Vision for Viksit Bharat @ 2047, outlining the aspirations and contributions of India’s youth toward the nation’s progress.

The gathering at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue underscored the government’s continued focus on empowering young leaders and positioning them as key agents of change in building a stronger, more developed India.
