“Panic in Bihar as Kosi River Floods: Video Captures Fleeing Crowds from Bridge”

Latest news"Panic in Bihar as Kosi River Floods: Video Captures Fleeing Crowds from Bridge"

Amid heavy rains causing severe flooding in Bihar, a dramatic video surfaced showing dozens of people fleeing from a bridge as the Kosi River swells dangerously. The flooding situation has become critical, with major rivers like the Kosi and Bagmati exceeding their danger marks.

The alarming footage, shared by Rajya Sabha MP and Congress spokesperson Ranjeet Ranjan, captures the moments of panic as individuals scream and run off the bridge. As the Kosi River’s fast-flowing waters begin to touch the bridge, security personnel hurriedly assist women, men, and children to safety.

“The river is in spate due to the rising water level of the Kosi dam,” Ranjan warned. He urged residents of Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar, and Navgachiya to stay away from the dam and adhere to the high alert issued by district authorities. “Safety must be the priority as water levels continue to rise,” he added.

The video captures the harrowing scene: as screams fill the air, some individuals are seen taking photos and videos even while fleeing. The camera pans to reveal the Kosi River’s ferocious current, rapidly rising and submerging everything in sight.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for the state, forecasting more heavy rainfall in the coming days. So far, over 1.6 million people have been affected by the floods, with significant damage reported in districts such as West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Patna, Jehanabad, Madhubani, Araria, Purnea, Katihar, and Bhojpur.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents to remain vigilant and prioritize their safety as the threat of flooding looms large.
