In light of the upcoming consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, the administration of Noida and Greater Noida has declared a public holiday on Monday. This decision affects all government offices, schools, and colleges in the region, according to an official order issued by Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma.
The announcement, made under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, signifies the importance of the event and aims to facilitate the participation of residents in the celebrations. District Magistrate Verma emphasized that the public holiday is in recognition of the consecration ceremony, and as such, government establishments will remain closed on January 22.
“While government offices and educational institutions will observe a day off on Monday, private organizations and commercial facilities have the flexibility to make individual decisions regarding their operations,” Verma stated in a statement to PTI.
In addition to the closure of government offices and educational institutions, the district magistrate outlined further restrictions for the day. As per state government orders, the sale of liquor will be prohibited on Monday. Additionally, there will be restrictions on the sale of meat during the day, aligning with the ceremonial and cultural significance of the event.
The consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple holds immense cultural and religious importance, and the public holiday is a gesture to allow the residents of Noida and Greater Noida to participate in the festivities without hindrance. The declaration reflects the administration’s commitment to acknowledging and respecting the cultural heritage and religious sentiments of the people in the region.
