A scheduled IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Doha, Qatar, turned into a chaotic ordeal for passengers early today, with many left stranded at the airport for nearly five hours. The flight, which was supposed to take off at 3:55 AM, faced significant delays due to a reported technical issue with the aircraft.
According to passengers, they were initially asked to remain onboard while the aircraft attempted to resolve the issue. However, after several hours of waiting, they were instructed to deboard and wait in the immigration area of Mumbai Airport. Approximately 250 to 300 passengers, including children, were affected by the delay.
An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the flight number 6E 1303 was indeed delayed and later canceled due to technical problems. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and explained that procedural delays extended the time required to address the issue.
Passengers reported a lack of communication from airport officials and were frustrated by the absence of basic amenities such as food and water during their wait. “They allowed us to wait in a holding area after we fought with them. No official was talking to us,” one passenger said. Another added, “It is chaos over here. People are worried as their jobs are at risk. Passengers are waiting with their children.”
In response to the situation, IndiGo assured that its airport team provided assistance to affected customers, including refreshments and necessary arrangements. “The customers are being provided hotels and are being rebooked as per their final destination. IndiGo sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused to its customers,” the spokesperson stated.
This incident follows a similar disruption earlier in the day involving a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga, Bihar. Passengers on that flight reported a heated exchange with airline officials after the flight was canceled just minutes before boarding.
The ongoing issues with flight cancellations and delays highlight growing concerns about airline reliability and customer service. As travelers continue to face disruptions, many are calling for better management and communication from airlines to avoid such distressing situations in the future.
