Mumbai Police apprehended four members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Saturday, foiling an alleged plot to attack Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The Navi Mumbai Police reported that the gang members had planned to target Khan’s car in Panvel. An FIR has been filed against 17 individuals associated with the case, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi, Sampat Nehra, and Goldy Brar.
The accused, identified as Dhananjay alias Ajay Kashyap, Gaurav Bhatia alias Nahvi, Waspi Khan alias Wasim Chikna, and Rizwan Khan alias Javed Khan, were arrested by Mumbai Police. It is alleged that they were sourcing weapons, including AK-47s, from Pakistan to carry out the attack on Salman Khan.
Reports suggest that the accused conducted surveillance on Khan’s residence and farmhouse as part of their plan. Ajay Kashyap reportedly contacted a person named Dogar in Pakistan via video call to order weapons like AK-47s.
The police received information that around 60 to 70 members of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gangs were involved in the plot, hailing from Mumbai, Raigad, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Gujarat. Their strategy allegedly involved using minors to carry out the attack and then fleeing the country, intending to escape to Sri Lanka via boat from Tamil Nadu’s Kanniyakumari.
This development follows a recent incident where two bike-borne individuals fired shots outside Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where Salman Khan resides. The suspects in that case, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, believed to have connections to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, were apprehended in Gujarat. Another accused, Anuj Thapan, was arrested earlier but passed away in police custody on May 1.
