A road rage incident in Malad turned deadly on Saturday when 28-year-old Akash Maeen, a worker for the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), was brutally beaten to death in front of his parents. The tragic event unfolded near Pushpa Park after an auto-rickshaw driver collided with Maeen’s car while attempting to overtake.
Witnesses reported that the auto driver struck Maeen’s vehicle, sparking an argument between the two. Following the initial confrontation, the auto driver left the scene, only to return with a group of supporters who then turned on Maeen.
In shocking footage of the incident, Akash can be seen being assaulted by a crowd, while his father desperately attempts to shield him. Akash’s mother went to the extent of lying over her son to protect him from the attackers, but despite their efforts, he was kicked and punched severely, sustaining critical injuries.
After the attack, Maeen was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The police quickly acted on the incident, using CCTV footage to identify suspects. By Sunday, six individuals had been arrested, with an additional three taken into custody on Monday. They have been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and other offenses.
The Dindoshi Police continue to investigate the case, gathering more evidence and seeking any additional witnesses to ensure justice for Maeen and his grieving family. The incident has raised serious concerns about road safety and public violence in Mumbai.
