
A massive fire broke out on the 42nd floor of the Salsette 27 highrise in Byculla, South Mumbai, on Friday morning. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties so far, according to an official from the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
Fire Incident Details
The blaze erupted around 10:45 AM at a residential property in one of the twin towers of Salsette 27, located on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. As flames engulfed the upper floors, thick black smoke billowed from the building’s glass façade, making the fire visible from a distance.
Firefighting Efforts Underway
Fire tenders were rushed to the scene, and firefighting operations are currently in progress. The Mumbai Fire Brigade, along with teams from Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), police, 108 ambulance services, and other emergency response agencies, were mobilized swiftly to control the situation.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
Recent Fire Incidents in Mumbai
This incident comes just a day after another fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in Marine Lines. The blaze at Marine Chambers, near Gol Masjid, affected electric wiring, wooden furniture, false ceilings, gas supply tubes, and household items in a 2,000 sq. ft. flat on the fifth floor.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as fire brigade personnel safely evacuated residents stranded on the upper floors. The fire was successfully doused by 2:10 PM on Thursday.
