Renowned singer Lucky Ali has taken legal action against senior Karnataka IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri and her husband Sudhir Reddy, accusing them of illegally seizing his family trust-owned property in Yelahanka’s Kenchenahalli area on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The complaint, filed with the Karnataka Lokayukta Police under Section 7 of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984, alleges misuse of state resources by Ms. Sindhuri to unlawfully occupy Mr. Ali’s land.
Mr. Ali’s complaint, highlighting serious concerns about administrative misconduct, includes allegations of illegal “land grabbing” orchestrated through monetary exchanges involving Ms. Sindhuri, Mr. Reddy, and Mr. Reddy’s brother. This dispute is part of a longstanding legal battle over the ownership of the farmland, with Mr. Ali asserting his family’s rightful ownership of the land for over 50 years.
The conflict dates back to December 2022, when Mr. Ali first raised concerns on social media and approached the Karnataka Director General of Police, alleging encroachment by individuals associated with the “Bangalore land mafia” and supported by Ms. Sindhuri. He criticized the local police for allegedly siding with the encroachers and not providing assistance.
IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri has faced previous controversies during her tenure, including a well-known dispute with IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil, resulting in legal actions and transfers by the Karnataka government. Ms. Sindhuri has responded to Mr. Ali’s accusations by demanding significant compensation and an apology from Ms. Moudgil, leading to further legal proceedings.
The complaint filed by Lucky Ali underscores broader concerns about land disputes, administrative integrity, and accountability in Karnataka. The Karnataka Lokayukta Police is expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations, addressing the complex legal and ethical issues raised by the case.
