Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and his wife Rajshree Yadav welcomed their second child, a baby boy, at a private hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday. The proud grandfather, Lalu Prasad Yadav, along with his wife Rabri Devi, announced the newborn’s name as Iraj Lalu Yadav.
Lalu Prasad Yadav shared the joyful news on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), revealing the significance behind the name. He wrote, “So our granddaughter Katyayani’s little brother is named ‘Iraj’ by me and Rabri Devi. Tejashwi and Rajshree have given him a full name as ‘Iraj Lalu Yadav.’ Katyayani was born on Katyayani Ashtami, the 6th day of auspicious Navratri, and this little bundle of joy is born on Bajrang Bali Hanuman Ji’s Mangal day of Tuesday, therefore naming him ‘Iraj.’ Thank you all for your best wishes and blessings! The newborn and his mother are doing well.”
The baby’s elder sister Katyayani was named after the day of her birth during the Navratri festival, reflecting the family’s tradition of choosing names with spiritual and cultural significance.
The newborn was delivered at a private hospital in Kolkata, where Rajshree Yadav had been admitted for the last few days. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the hospital on Tuesday to meet the family. Speaking to the media outside the hospital, Banerjee expressed her happiness, saying, “Lalu ji and Rabri ji are here and they are very happy. I wish peace and happiness for the family of Tejashwi.”
The Yadav family’s latest addition has been warmly welcomed, with many congratulatory messages pouring in from political leaders and well-wishers alike. Both mother and child are reported to be in good health, marking a joyous occasion for the prominent political family of Bihar.
