
The union territory of Lakshadweep has experienced a notable increase in tourist inquiries after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit earlier this year. Tourism officer Imthias Mohammed TB confirmed the surge in interest, attributing it to the impact of PM Modi’s visit and the subsequent social media posts sharing glimpses of the picturesque island.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Imthias Mohammed highlighted the significant impact of PM Modi’s visit on tourism in Lakshadweep. He mentioned receiving numerous inquiries from tourists interested in exploring the island’s beauty and unique cultural experiences.
One of the key areas of focus for Lakshadweep’s tourism promotion is the enhancement of cruise ship services. Imthias Mohammed emphasized the importance of improving connectivity with the mainland, especially through streamlined air travel, to attract more tourists to the region.
Tourists from various parts of India, such as Mumbai and Delhi, expressed their renewed interest in visiting Lakshadweep after seeing images and videos of PM Modi’s visit. Aman Singh from Mumbai mentioned that earlier myths associated with the island were dispelled by PM Modi’s visit, making it seem more accessible and enticing. Similarly, Sumit Anand from Delhi shared his excitement about making Lakshadweep his next travel destination after being inspired by PM Modi’s trip.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also acknowledged the global interest generated by PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep. He praised the Prime Minister’s focus on the territory’s tourism potential, highlighting the economic benefits and cultural exchanges that increased tourism could bring to Lakshadweep.
PM Modi’s social media posts during his visit showcased the natural beauty of Lakshadweep, including its white beaches and pristine ocean views. His messages encouraged adventure enthusiasts to consider adding Lakshadweep to their travel bucket lists, further boosting the region’s appeal among tourists.
