Kamal Haasan's MNM Stays Open to Alliances, Prioritizing National Interest

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan, speaking on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), reiterated his party’s commitment to supporting any political alliance that prioritizes the nation’s interests over partisan politics. Haasan emphasized that MNM would refrain from aligning with groups engaged in “feudal politics.”

Addressing reporters, Haasan welcomed the recent entry of Tamil actor Vijay into politics and hinted at ongoing discussions regarding potential political alliances for MNM. Responding to queries about joining the multi-party opposition INDIA bloc, he stated that MNM would participate if the focus remains on national welfare.

Haasan clarified that while MNM remains open to alliances, it won’t engage with entities involved in local feudal politics. Despite speculation about potential ties with the MK Stalin-led DMK for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Haasan affirmed that MNM has not joined any bloc yet.

MNM, which contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, aims to broaden its political footprint by exploring strategic partnerships. However, the party’s primary goal remains serving the interests of the people and contributing positively to the political landscape.

As discussions continue regarding potential alliances, MNM seeks to position itself as a viable alternative focused on progressive governance and national development. Haasan assured that any updates on political alliances would be communicated to the media promptly.
