The detonation near the Israel embassy in central Delhi has prompted a thorough investigation by anti-terror agencies, raising concerns about security in the area. The blast, reported on Tuesday evening, resulted in an immediate response from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), accompanied by NSG commandos, dog squads, and the Delhi Police’s Special Cell.
Authorities swiftly secured the area and collected samples from the site, including grass and leaves, to ascertain potential traces of explosives used. Forensic experts will analyze these samples for further insights into the nature of the blast.
Initially prompted by a security guard’s report of a loud noise resembling a tire burst, the subsequent search revealed an “abusive” letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador, wrapped in a flag. Sources disclosed to NDTV that the letter, written in English and using offensive language, bore the name of a group called “Sir Allah Resistance.”
Extensive efforts are underway to identify suspects and trace their movements before, during, and after the blast. CCTV footage from over 100 cameras in the vicinity is being scrutinized, though this process is expected to be time-consuming. Two potential suspects have been identified, and authorities are endeavoring to establish their identities and track their route.
Israeli official Ohad Nakash Kaynar confirmed the incident, assuring the safety of all diplomats and embassy staff. An advisory from Tel Aviv cautioned Israeli nationals in India, urging them to avoid crowded areas, refrain from displaying Israeli symbols, and exercise caution in sharing trip details on social media.
