A tragic accident on Sunday morning claimed the lives of four people and left seven others injured when a Bolero collided with a trailer near Dardakhand on the Sonbhadra-Raipur road, police said.
The Bolero, carrying 10 passengers, was returning to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, after the group had taken a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. As the vehicle reached Darankhad under the Babhani police station area, a trailer truck crashed into it, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kalu Singh confirmed.
Police officials reached the accident site promptly and transported the injured to the Community Health Centre in Babhani.
All were residents of Chhattisgarh. Their bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
Doctors have referred three critically injured victims to the district hospital for advanced treatment, officials said.
The accident has once again highlighted the need for strict road safety measures, especially on highways connecting major pilgrimage sites. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.
