Five Doctors Killed in Tragic Crash on Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Driver Allegedly Fell Asleep

In a tragic accident early this morning, five doctors lost their lives and one was critically injured when their Scorpio SUV collided with a truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred at around 3:30 AM when the group of postgraduate trainees from the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai was returning from a wedding function in Lucknow.

Reports indicate that the driver of the Scorpio SUV, allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to lose control. The SUV broke through the expressway divider and veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with an oncoming truck. The impact of the crash was devastating, leading to the death of five doctors, while one other suffered serious head injuries and is currently under treatment.

The victims were identified as Dr. Aniruddh Verma, Dr. Santosh Kumar Maurya, Dr. Jaiveer Singh, Dr. Arun Kumar, and Dr. Nardev. They were all affiliated with the Saifai hospital, where they worked as doctors and lab technicians.

Following the accident, local police and emergency services rushed to the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital, where the five doctors were declared dead. The critically injured survivor is currently receiving medical care.

Priyanka Bajpai, Circle Officer of Tirwa, confirmed the details of the incident, stating, “Around 3:30 AM today, the Scorpio SUV from Lucknow towards Agra lost its balance, broke through the divider, and entered the parallel lane, crashing into an oncoming truck. Five people in the vehicle have died, and one is under treatment. All of them were doctors or lab technicians at Saifai hospital. We have informed the families of the victims and further investigation is underway.”

The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on the driver’s apparent fatigue as a contributing factor. The crash has left the local medical community and the families of the victims devastated, with many expressing their grief over the tragic loss.
