Five Arrested for Murder of Migrant Worker in Haryana Over Alleged Beef Consumption

In a shocking incident in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri, five men have been arrested, and two minors detained, for allegedly killing a migrant worker over suspicions that he had consumed beef. The victim, Sabir Malik, a laborer from Bihar, was brutally beaten by a group of cow vigilantes who believed he had eaten beef, according to local police.

The incident took place on August 27, when the suspects lured Malik and another laborer to a shop under the pretense of selling empty plastic bottles for scrap. Once there, the seven accused attacked the two men, severely injuring them. A video of the assault went viral on social media, sparking outrage.

Tragically, Malik succumbed to his injuries, while the other laborer is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. The police have identified and arrested five of the accused: Abhishek, Mohit, Ravinder, Kamaljit, and Sahil. The two minors involved have been taken into custody.

The violence was reportedly triggered after a group of people called the police on August 27, suspecting that beef was being cooked in a nearby slum. The police arrived at the scene, collected samples of the meat, and sent them to a lab for testing. However, after the police left, the suspects abducted Malik and his coworker and brutally assaulted them.

Police officer Bharat Bhushan stated that a thorough investigation is underway, and strict action will be taken against those involved in the heinous crime. The case has reignited concerns about vigilantism and mob violence in the region.
