Latest news"First Arrest Made in Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi's Murder Case"

The police have made the first arrest in the shocking murder of Rajput leader and Karni Sena chief, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, who was shot dead by assailants in his Jaipur residence. Ramveer, reportedly aiding the shooters by facilitating their escape to Ajmer Road on his bike, has been apprehended, revealed the authorities. Ramveer hails from the same village as one of the accused, Nitin.

The brutal incident unfolded on December 5 when Gogamedi was having tea with four men at his home. Suddenly, two men among them opened fire, leaving Gogamedi fatally wounded. The tragic incident, captured on CCTV, caused widespread outrage and protests across Rajasthan.

In the shooting, one of the three assailants, identified as Naveen Singh Shekhawat, lost his life in the gunfire. Additionally, one of Gogamedi’s security guards sustained critical injuries.

The murder triggered massive demonstrations, with supporters demanding swift arrests of the culprits. Responding to the escalating situation, the BJP, recently victorious in the state elections, sought an NIA probe into the killing.

Amidst the uproar, two police personnel faced suspension due to alleged negligence, as confirmed by Gogamedi’s wife, Sheela Shekhawat. She expressed concerns over the lack of security despite repeated warnings to former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the state police chief about potential threats to her husband’s life.

Further claims emerged from the FIR filed after the killing, indicating prior alerts from Punjab Police and the Jaipur Anti-Terror Squad about a plotted attack. However, despite these warnings, security coverage was not granted to Gogamedi due to his extensive criminal record, featuring around 30 cases, the latest one for extortion in 2016.

The investigation continues as the police pursue the remaining two suspects involved in the fatal attack on Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.
