The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the explosions outside Seville Bar and Lounge, owned by rapper Badshah, and De’Orra Club in Chandigarh on Monday night. The attacks, reportedly carried out due to failed extortion attempts, have sparked widespread concern.
In a Facebook post attributed to Goldy Brar, a Canada-based terrorist linked to the Bishnoi gang, the group stated that the blasts were a warning after their demands for “protection money” went unanswered. Brar, along with another gang member, Rohit Godara, allegedly orchestrated the explosions to send a strong message to those ignoring their extortion calls.
The explosions, captured on CCTV, show a man throwing suspected crude bombs at the clubs before fleeing. The blasts shattered glass windows at both establishments but caused no injuries.
Police have launched an investigation, analyzing the CCTV footage and other evidence from the scene. Statements from the owners of Seville and De’Orra clubs are yet to be made public.
Gang’s Notorious Background
Goldy Brar, whose real name is Satinderjit Singh, is a designated terrorist operating from Canada. He is also suspected of masterminding the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022. Rohit Godara, another key gang member, has been implicated in multiple crimes, including an alleged shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai and the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.
Lawrence Bishnoi, the gang’s namesake leader, is currently incarcerated in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail on drug-smuggling charges.
Badshah’s Ventures
Rapper Badshah, known for his hit tracks in Hindi, Punjabi, and Bollywood films, opened Seville Bar and Lounge in December last year. The 39-year-old artist also co-owns two other establishments, Sago Spicy Symphony and Sidera.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to crack down on organized crime networks as incidents of extortion and violence threaten public safety.
