In a major incident on the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway today, a container truck carrying multiple cars caught fire, leading to the destruction of all eight vehicles inside the container. The fire caused significant traffic disruptions and left one person injured.
The blaze, which occurred near Ranjol on the Zaheerabad bypass road in Sangareddy district, sent thick plumes of grey-white smoke into the air, as intense orange flames engulfed the container. Emergency services rushed to the scene to control the fire, but the intense heat made it difficult to bring the flames under control. Despite the firefighters’ efforts, all eight cars inside the container were completely charred and destroyed.
The truck, which was traveling from Mumbai to Hyderabad, reportedly experienced the fire due to a possible short-circuit, according to preliminary investigations by local police. The driver of the container truck, who suffered 20 percent burns, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The fire caused a severe traffic jam on the busy highway, with vehicles forced to stop and wait while emergency crews worked to extinguish the fire and clear the area. The highway remained blocked for a significant period, further adding to the congestion.
Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire, while efforts are underway to ensure the smooth flow of traffic once the scene is cleared.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety measures for transporting goods over long distances and the importance of regular vehicle inspections to prevent such disasters.
