In a shocking incident, the Ghaziabad police arrested a domestic help identified as Reena for allegedly mixing urine into flour dough while preparing food for her employers in the upscale locality of Crossings Republik. The arrest took place on October 15, following a complaint lodged by her employers the previous day.
According to ACP Lipi Nagayach, the complaint was filed at the Crossings Republik police station on October 14, reporting the disturbing behavior of the domestic worker. “A case under relevant sections was registered, and teams were formed to apprehend the accused. Reena was arrested from GH-7 society on October 15, and further investigations are underway,” ACP Nagayach stated.
The police have begun a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover any additional details regarding the incident.
Rising Concerns Over Food Safety
This incident comes on the heels of another troubling event where a video surfaced online showing a teenager spitting on bread at an eatery in Saharanpur district. The video, which quickly went viral, prompted the police to arrest both the owner of the eatery and the minor employee involved. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain confirmed that the incident occurred at an establishment named Dastarkhwan, located near Grassmarket in Chhutmalpur town.
In response to these alarming incidents, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is planning to introduce two new ordinances: the “Prevention of Pseudo and Anti-Harmony Activities and Prohibition of Spitting Ordinance 2024” and the “UP Prevention of Contamination in Food (Consumer Right to Know) Ordinance 2024.” These measures aim to enhance food safety and prevent such acts of misconduct in the future.
As the investigations continue, both the police and the government emphasize the importance of maintaining safety and hygiene standards in food preparation to protect public health and restore trust within communities.
