In a night marred by tragedy, Greater Noida witnessed two hit-and-run incidents during Diwali celebrations, leaving four individuals injured. Videos capturing both incidents have circulated on social media, highlighting the shocking nature of the accidents. The first incident occurred around 11 pm outside a residential society in Sector-119 when a speeding Maruti Swift collided with three people, including an eight-year-old girl who was part of the festive celebrations.
The father of the young girl, Kamesh Khatana, shared the harrowing details, stating, “My daughter, friend, and his father-in-law were hit by a red Swift car around 10:54 pm at Eldeco Aamantran in Sector 119, Noida. All three have been admitted to the ICU at Kailash Hospital in Noida, and their conditions are critical.” Expressing frustration, Khatana emphasized that the car’s number could not be identified due to its high speed.
Taking to social media, Khatana questioned the police response, stating, “I am the plaintiff, no one has contacted me. How can the police sit so quietly after such a disgusting incident?” The Gautam Budh Nagar Police have registered an FIR and deployed four teams to apprehend the accused.
In the second incident, a security guard in Gaur City 2, Greater Noida, suffered minor injuries after being hit by a speeding SUV. The viral video depicts the reckless driving of the SUV, with the driver reportedly in an inebriated state. Despite the impact, the driver failed to stop and fled the scene. The incident has sparked concerns over road safety and the need for strict measures against drunk driving.
As the community demands swift action and justice for the victims, the incidents underscore the importance of enhanced vigilance and safety measures, especially during festive times when celebrations can turn tragic due to reckless behavior on the roads.
