In a tragic incident in Shahdara, Delhi, a 34-year-old woman named Soni was allegedly stabbed to death by her neighbors, sparking a police investigation into the shocking crime. The suspects, however, claim that the injuries could have been self-inflicted, adding complexity to the case.
The harrowing event unfolded when the police received a distress call on Friday night reporting a woman being stabbed. Responding swiftly, a police team arrived at Soni’s residence in Bhikam Singh Colony, Farsh Bazar, where they discovered her lying in a pool of blood.
Initial inquiries revealed that Soni and her husband Satbir had engaged in a heated altercation with their neighbors and their family members over undisclosed issues. During the confrontation, Soni sustained two or three cut marks on her left hand and a small wound on her stomach, according to a police officer familiar with the case.
Despite being rushed to Dr. Hedgewar Hospital, Soni was declared dead upon arrival by attending doctors. The tragic circumstances surrounding her death have raised questions about the nature of the injuries and the conflicting accounts provided by the suspects.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Surendra Chaudhry (Shahdara) commented on the investigation, stating, “The suspects claim she inflicted the injuries herself. But we are verifying the claims and corroborating the sequence of the incident.” Satbir, Soni’s husband, has provided statements to the police, leading to the registration of a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to murder.
As authorities delve deeper into the case, probing the veracity of the self-infliction claims against the evidence at hand, the tragic loss of Soni has left her family and the local community in shock. The police remain committed to uncovering the truth behind this distressing incident and bringing justice to Soni’s memory.
