In a tragic incident of road rage in Delhi, a 30-year-old police constable named Sandeep lost his life after being dragged by a car in the Nangloi area late last night. The incident occurred while Sandeep was on patrol duty in civil clothes, riding his motorcycle when he attempted to stop a speeding WagonR car.
According to eyewitness reports and CCTV footage, Sandeep signaled the driver of the WagonR to slow down as the vehicle attempted to overtake him. Instead of complying, the driver accelerated and collided with Sandeep’s motorcycle, dragging both him and the bike for approximately 10 meters. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Sandeep succumbed to severe head injuries shortly after.
Authorities confirmed that the two occupants of the car fled the scene immediately after the collision. The vehicle has since been seized, and a murder case has been registered against unidentified suspects. Police are currently working to locate and apprehend the accused.
Survived by his mother, wife, and five-year-old son, Sandeep’s death has sent shockwaves through the community. A senior police officer, Jimmy Chiram, noted that a verbal altercation likely preceded the incident, describing it as a “prima facie” case of road rage.
Reports suggest that one of the occupants of the car may be involved in the illegal liquor trade, though this has not been officially confirmed by law enforcement.
The alarming rise in road rage incidents in the national capital has raised concerns among residents. Last month, a 32-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was fatally assaulted after a minor altercation with a car in Faridabad.
