The Delhi Police have arrested two suspects, including the owner of a flat, in connection with the brutal murder of a 35-year-old woman whose decomposed body was discovered inside a box bed in Shahdara’s Vivek Vihar. The accused, identified as 65-year-old Vivekanand Mishra and his accomplice Abhay Kumar Jha alias Sonu, were taken into custody after an extensive investigation.
Chilling Discovery
Authorities received a call on Friday about a foul smell coming from a flat in Satyam Enclave, Vivek Vihar. Upon arrival, officers found the house locked, with bloodstains near the back door. Upon breaking in, they discovered the decomposed remains of the victim, identified as Anju alias Anjali from Ludhiana, stuffed inside a bag in the storage compartment of a bed.
Arrests and Investigation
A special team was immediately formed to track down the owner of the house, Mishra, who was eventually arrested near Surajmal Park, Anand Vihar. During interrogation, Mishra confessed to the murder and named his accomplices, Sonu and Ashish Kumar.
Sonu, who had reportedly traveled to Delhi to dispose of the body, attempted to flee to Bihar. However, police, with the help of the Government Railway Police (GRP), intercepted and arrested him at Aligarh station while he was aboard the Magadh Express.
Planned Murder and Disposal Attempts
Investigations revealed that the murder was meticulously planned. Mishra and Sonu had orchestrated the crime, luring Anjali from Ludhiana to Delhi on March 21 with the help of Ashish. After the murder, Mishra searched online for ways to dispose of the body using chemicals and explored locations such as open manholes and Delhi Jal Board drains to eliminate evidence.
The police are now on the lookout for the third suspect, Ashish, and are working to establish the exact motive behind the crime. Further investigation is underway.
