Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has issued an advisory to passengers on Wednesday morning due to the dense fog that enveloped parts of the city and its neighboring areas. The fog has raised concerns over potential flight disruptions, particularly for those aircraft not equipped with CAT III landing systems. Passengers have been urged to check with their respective airlines for updated flight information to avoid any inconvenience.
CAT III is a system that allows aircraft to land in low visibility conditions, crucial for safe operations in foggy weather. The advisory came as visibility dropped significantly in Delhi and nearby regions like Ghaziabad, Noida, and Gurugram, with some areas experiencing extremely low visibility, including the Dwarka Expressway.
At least 20 trains traveling to Delhi from various parts of the country were delayed due to the thick fog, further affecting transportation. Some of the delayed trains include the Goa Express, Poorva Express, Kalindi Express, and Rewa – Anand Vihar Terminal SF Express. Travelers were advised to check train statuses as well to stay updated.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius in Delhi on Wednesday morning, contributing to the foggy conditions.
In other developments, the air quality in Delhi has improved, leading to the lifting of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Level 4, which had been implemented to combat severe air pollution in the city. The improvement in air quality provided some relief to residents, especially in terms of reduced smog and haze.
As the fog continues to affect transportation, travelers are advised to stay updated on flight and train statuses to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure a smooth journey.
