In a strategic move ahead of the second phase of Chhattisgarh elections, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced a significant initiative for women empowerment. If the Congress retains power in Chhattisgarh, women in the state will be entitled to an annual financial assistance of ₹15,000 under the newly introduced “Chhattisgarh Gruha Lakshmi Yojana.”
The announcement, made on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, is being perceived as a counter to the BJP’s promise in its poll manifesto of providing ₹12,000 per year to married women. Chief Minister Baghel expressed the importance of the decision for women’s empowerment, attributing it to the blessings of Maa Lakshmi ji and Chhattisgarh Mahtari.
Under the proposed scheme, the financial aid will be directly deposited into the bank accounts of women in the state. Chief Minister Baghel extended Diwali wishes to the people of Chhattisgarh while highlighting the commitment to uplifting women through this welfare initiative.
The first phase of polling for 20 out of the total 90 assembly seats in Chhattisgarh took place on November 7, with the remaining 70 seats set for voting on November 17. The political landscape intensifies as parties make bold promises and unveil welfare schemes, aiming to garner support ahead of the crucial election phases.
