A school trip to a theme park in Maharashtra’s Raigad district turned tragic after a 14-year-old student suffered a fatal heart attack on Tuesday.
According to police reports, students from a Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation-run school in Ghansoli were on an educational trip to Imagicaa Theme Park in Khopoli when the incident occurred. The deceased student was identified as Ayush Dharmendra Singh, a class 8 student.
Sudden Collapse During Trip
Officials stated that Ayush began feeling uneasy during the trip and sat on a bench to rest. Moments later, he suddenly collapsed to the ground. Teachers and theme park staff rushed him to the primary health center inside the park for immediate medical attention. However, he was later referred to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A post-mortem examination conducted in the presence of a government medical officer confirmed that the cause of death was a heart attack. The Khalapur police have registered an accidental death case and are investigating further.
Similar Incident in Odisha
In a separate tragic event, a class 10 student from Odisha’s Balasore district passed away just hours before his board exam.
The deceased, identified as Chandra Sekhar Majhi (15), had reportedly fallen ill after consuming food at a community feast three days before his death. Although he had recovered after taking medication, he suddenly collapsed while preparing to leave for his board exam at Kalyani Nuapur High School, which was 5 km from his village.
He was rushed to Soro hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Both incidents have left families and school communities in deep shock, raising concerns about students’ health and the importance of timely medical interventions during school trips and examinations.
